Fox UFC Saturday – PREDICTIONS

Miesha Tate v Liz Carmouche
On paper this fight favors Carmouche as she has better striking numbers landing nearly 4 punches per minute compared to Tate who only lands 1 per minute. In addition Carmouche lands at a much greater accuracy while throwing less. She is very efficient with her striking and this could take her to the winners circle. Conversely, Cupcake Tate possess a much better ground game as she easily owns the grappling statistics and could control this fight on the ground very easily. But despite the statistics one thing is for sure. These two girls need a victory. Tate is coming off her second loss to champion Ronda Rousey and Carmouche was handled easily by Alexis Davis in November 2013. One thing is certain this fight should be an all-out war.

PREDICTION: LIZ CARMOUCHE – Decision

Donald Cerrone v Edson Barboza
An evenly matched fight on paper, the bout between Cerrone and Barboza could go a number of ways. While Cerrone owns the submission game, Barboza thrives on the knockout and his numbers show that he can end a fight at any point. Cerrone is no slouch as his striking is some of the best in the division, but Cerrone would be wise to take this game to the mat where he knows he can excel.

PREDICTION: CERRONE – Submission

Brad Tavares v Yoel Romero
Spoiler Alert! I don’t see this one going very long. Hawaiian native Tavares and UFC newcomer Romero will square off toe to toe in the octagon and I don’t see much backing down for either. Both bring strong striking to the table and Romero has never even been to the cards recording all of his victories with knockouts. Tavares who is considered one of the tougher 185’ers will be ready to exchange. But it will only be a matter of who can take the punch and keep coming forward.

PREDICTION: TAVARES – Knockout

MAIN EVENT

Fabricio Werdum v Travis Browne
After an amazing 2013, title contender Travis Browne faces off against Brazilian legend and “Fedor Killer” Fabricio Werdum with title implications on the line as the winner will face current titleholder Cain Velasquez this summer. Browne, who many consider to be the next breed of athlete in the UFC, comes into the cage with a wide array of skills. Werdum who is making his second tour through the UFC is always dangerous and very well-rounded. This is a perfect main event bout and the fans will be entertained throughout.

PREDICTION: BROWNE – Decision
